Jennifer Guth practises civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance law and the defence of personal injury, motor vehicle accident, fire loss, property damage, and product liability claims, as well as insurance coverage issues and related matters. She has also acted as defence counsel in professional liability claims against real estate agents and lawyers. In May 2010, Jennifer completed the Alternative Dispute and Conflict Resolution 40-hour certificate program at the Mediation Centre of Southeastern Ontario.
Jennifer was called to the Ontario Bar in February 2002 after receiving her law degree from the University of Ottawa in 2000. She also earned a Psychology degree from Algoma University College in 1997 and a Criminology degree from the University of Ottawa in 1995. Since her call, she has practised civil litigation at both local and national firms in Ottawa.
Jennifer helped coach the University of Ottawa's Law School team to win the "Best Team" and "Best Closing" awards at the March 2009 Ontario Trial Lawyers' Association (OTLA) trial moot competition in London, Ontario. She has previously been a guest instructor and assessor for the Trial Advocacy course at the University of Ottawa Law School and for the Law Society’s former Bar Admission Course. She has coordinated and presented several Continuing Legal Education seminars on topics including trial procedure and accident benefits.
Jennifer is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Advocates’ Society, Canadian Defence Lawyers and the County of Carleton Law Association.
